Our family tree:
Lodge members sometimes get together to form daughter Lodges. Typically, this may be due to members of the new Lodge sharing common interests or professions, or if their mother Lodge is becoming overly large. Ferdinand de Rothschild is our mother Lodge, and it has two daughter Lodges - ourselves and our sister Lodge, Vale Lodge (you can visit Vale Lodge's website by clicking on the button below). Haddenham Lodge is our own daughter Lodge, and was consecrated in February 1981.
In its early days, the membership of Aylesbury Lodge included a high proportion of local retailers. Thursday used to be 'early closing day', when most shops closed in the afternoon, and this provided an opportunity to go home, get changed, and out to a Lodge meeting. Our Lodge meets on Thursdays to this day.
Nowadays, the membership of most Lodges is very diverse but there is still a tendency for new Lodges to be formed from members with common interests. For example, in 2016 this Province gained a Motorcycle Lodge, and the Buckinghamshire Classic Car Lodge was consecrated at the Sindlesham Masonic Centre on 22nd May 2017. The newest special interest Lodge is the Buckinghamshire Football Lodge, consecrated at Wycombe Wanderers F.C. on the 30th May 2025.
